Updating SimuTerra
Instructions for updating SimuTerra
These instructions assume that you have already installed a previous version of SimuTerra, and that you want to update to a newer version. The instructions are the same whether or not you had acquired keys from us, and whether or not you've used those keys to activate the program (you don't need keys to use the program in the limited trial mode).
If you have received keys in the past and used them to activate your license for SimuTerra, then there's nothing that you need to do regarding the keys. The new version will function at the same level as the previous version. For instance, if you had activated a license for the free trial at the Pro level, you will still be licensed at the Pro level until 30 days after the keys were initially issued. If you had received the keys for the permanent Pro level, then the new version will be automatically activated at the Pro level.
MACINTOSH
------------------
* Go to our web site (www.compuneering.com).
* Follow the links to download the installer.
That will bring you to the page on which you have to fill out the same form which you've probably filled out in the past.
* Fill in the form. If you've filled it out completely in the past, then you can save some time as follows: Fill in your complete first name, last name, and email address; for all other fields, you can just type one letter such as 'x'.
* Click the Submit button.
That will bring you to the page which has the installers. On that page you should see lines such as these with installer links (the 'xxx' here depends upon which versions you are dealing with):
Macintosh installer (SimuTerra xxx Installer.dmg), or...
Windows XP, 2000 installer (SimuTerra_xxx.msi), or...
* Click on that "Macintosh installer" link.
That should cause the file "SimuTerra xxx Installer.dmg" to be downloaded to your computer; it will be placed wherever your downloaded files usually go. It should also mount automatically; if it doesn't, find and double-click the file in the Finder. Once it mounts, you'll see inside it the folder "SimuTerra xxx folder".
* Drag the folder "SimuTerra xxx folder" into your Applications folder.
You can then dispose of the older folder named "SimuTerra xxx folder" from your Applications folder, if this older folder exists.
If you had placed an icon in the Dock for starting an older version of SimuTerra, delete it from the dock (by dragging it out of the dock) and drag the icon of the new SimuTerra (from inside the folder "SimuTerra xxx folder") to the dock so as to create a new icon in the dock.
You can also delete the disk image file "SimuTerra xxx Installer.dmg" which was downloaded to your hard drive.

You should be able to run the installer at this point. That will automatically uninstall the older version and install the new one. You could instead download the installer, then run it later from your hard drive, and delete the installer from your hard drive if you like.
