How to obtain and use keys

If you want to unlock SimuTerra so as to be able to save SimuTerra files and to export complete DTMs in DXF, you'll need to get a pair of keys from us. You can get either the 30-day trial keys at no cost, or purchase the non-expiring Standard or Pro keys.

Obtaining and using keys

In order for us to provide you with the keys, you will have to first provide us with the system signature. Here's how to do so:

* Install SimuTerra (using the installer which you can download from this site).
* Start SimuTerra.
* Choose SimuTerra > License.... (on the Macintosh) or File > License... (on Windows).
* Copy the value displayed for "system signature."
* Paste that system signature into an email message.
* In the message, include a simple description of which computer it is to run on (such as "PowerBook G4," "Dell Precision M60" or "Sony VAIO").
* State which version of which operating system you are using on that computer.
* State which keys you want (free 30-day trial; Standard; or Pro).
* If you are purchasing, provide payment information.
* Email us the message.

Then we will email both the license key and the activation key to you. (This is a manual process on our end, so it may take a couple of hours during normal business hours, or longer at other times.)

Upgrading keys

If you already have 30-day trial or Standard keys from us, and want to purchase Standard or Pro keys, contact us. Please provide the system signature again.

The License... menu item will have changed to Limited Trial... (or Limited Trial.../Unregister...). Select it and click on the button to change to limited trial level; the menu item will then change back to License.... Choose the License... menu item, and proceed as described above.
