Here are the details on all of the tools in the Tool Palette.

Selection Tools
Creation Tools
Editing Tools
Camera Tools

A tool will remain active until you select a different tool. In the Macintosh version, the tool selection remains the same as you switch from one document to another. In the Windows version, the selection can be different for each document.
